MAN IS CHARGED IN TIRE-SLASHINGS IN OLD SOUTHWEST

A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a series of tire slashings that occurred over the weekend to automobiles in Old Southwest Roanoke.

Donald Lewis Harris, 25, of Marshall Avenue Southwest was charged with 41 counts of property damage and was being held at the Roanoke City Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Police said the tire slashings occurred last Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Many of the cars had more than one tire vandalized and damage was estimated at more than $5,000, police said.

The investigation is continuing and police said they are looking for at least one other suspect in the slashings.
