VOLUNTEER STAFF NEEDED FOR MULTISPORT EVENT

A multisport event, styled after the Olympic Games, will be held for the first time July 5-8 and volunteers are needed to help with the games.

More than 4,000 amateur athletes of all ages will compete in 29 sports during the Virginia CorEast State Games, to be held at various locations

throughout the Roanoke Valley.

Events will include track and field, swimming, gymnastics, softball, basketball, cycling, martial arts, weightlifting, soccer, golf and water skiing, among others. Equestrian events will be held at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington.

Volunteers are needed to help in many capacities at the games. Tasks include various support services for the opening ceremonies, games and the statewide torch run, and staffing the headquarters and concession stands.
