12 SEEK DOGWOOD CROWN

Twelve young women will compete in the Vinton Dogwood Festival Pageant Saturday at William Byrd High School. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $4. Guitarist Brad Jones of Fret Mill Music will be the guest performer.

The pageant is one of several activities that are part of the 35th annual Vinton Dogwood Festival and the 14th annual Vinton Folklife Festival. Activities start Saturday morning with a bike race and conclude that evening with the Vinton Dogwood Festival Gala at the LancerLot Sports complex.

The winner of the pageant will compete in the Miss Virginia Pageant. The contestants are:

Glenda Jo Agnor, 24, of Glen Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon B. Agnor. She is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and will play the clarinet in the talent competition.

Lucia Elaine Eckstein, 22, of Roanoke, daughter of Wilbert and Shirley Eckstein. She is a sophomore at Virginia Western Community College and will sing.

Mitzi Ferguson, 19, of Roanoke, daughter of Brooks and Mary Ferguson. She is a sophomore at Hollins College and will tap dance.

Jeanette Meads, 22, of Winchester, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ray Meads. She is a senior at Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music and will play the trumpet.

Paula Ketterer, 24, of Waynesboro, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Greenstone. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and will sing.

Jennifer J. Lewis, 19, of Yorktown, daughter of Ralph and Barbara Lewis. She is a sophomore at Old Dominion University and will play the piano.

Bonnie Alaine Sharp, 20, of Highland Springs, daughter of James and Beverly Sharp. She is a sales assistant for a Richmond stock brokerage company and will sing.

Angela Lynn Snodgrass, 19, of Bristol, daughter of John and Darlene Snodgrass. She attends Virginia Highlands Community College and will perform a dramatic reading.

Terri Ann Walsh, 21, of Arrington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.A. Walsh. She is a junior at Radford University and will tap dance and sing.

Kimberly White, 22, of Sandston, daughter of Charles and Joyce White. She attends J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and will sing.

Audra Elizabeth Wilks, 19, of Richmond, daughter of Harvey and Anne Wilks. She is a freshman at George Mason University and will sing.

Stephanie Wise, 20, of Salem, daughter of Paul and Nancy Wise. She is a sophomore at Virginia Western Community College and will twirl a baton.
