\ PEARISBURG - Rev. David Arlen Wood, age 60, of Pearisburg, formerly of Tazewell, Va. went to be with Jesus on Wednesday April 25, 1990. He was born in Moundsville, WVa. He was the son of Dorothy Davis Wood of Tazewell and the late, Forest Edwin Wood. He was an ordained minister on the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Churches and served churches in the following circuits, Summit Circuit; Amonate Circuit; Fair Garden Circuit; Staffordsville Circuit; and the Narrows Circuit. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and retired after twenty years of service. Survivors in addition to his mother include, his wife, Rev. Margaret Brown Wood; one son, Specialist Michael David Wood, U.S. Army Airborn Ranger, stationed in Hunter Army Airfield C. Co., 1st Ranger Italian, 75th Ranger Regiment, Ga.; two uncles, Mr. Edward David Wood, Key Marathon, Fla.; Mr. Howard W. Davis of Texas. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday afternoon April 28 at 2:00 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. with Rev. Paul Marchbanks and Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating. Friends and relatives will serve as Paulbearers. United Methodist Ministers of the Holston Conference will serve as honorary Paulbearers. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Barnes-Beavers #7136 Post of Tazewell, Va. will conducted military graveside rites. The body is at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home of Tazewell, Va. where friends may call after 6:30 p.m. Friday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of memorial contributions to the Gideons or to the church of one's choice. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, Tazewell, Va. by 1:00 p.m. Saturday. A memorial service will be conducted Monday, April 30 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Narrows, Va. with Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating.
