BLACKSBURG HIGH STUDENTS WIN VA. COMPETITION

Two Blacksburg High School students won events in the Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics-Related occupations proficiency competition held recently in Williamsburg. One, Amy Price, will represent Virginia in the National Proficiency events in San Antonio.

Helene Oberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jan Oberg, won first place in the Learning Games category with a game she made called "Same or Different." She is a student in Child Care I and works in the Blacksburg High School Playschool.

Price, daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Price, won first place for a project titled "Little Friends." She developed a display and printed materials to warn children about strangers. She also worked with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department to provide a fingerprinting session for youngsters.
