FLOYD NATIVE TO LEAD WYTHEVILLE DISTRICT

A native of Floyd, the Rev. Fred Austin, will become superintendent of the Wytheville District of the United Methodist Church in June. The district includes churches in Pulaski and Giles counties and Radford.

Austin will succeed the Rev. Frank Bostick, who earlier this year became superintendent of a Tennessee church. He has been pastor of First United Methodist Church of Marion for the past eight years.

In the full-time ministry of Holston Conference for 24 years, Austin has served First United Methodist of Pearisburg among his several pastorates. He was a delegate to two jurisdictional conferences of the church in the 1980s.

The new superintendent will begin his work after the Holston annual meeting, when clergy are assigned.
