TEAM USA TRIALS INCLUDE STITH, CROTTY

University of Virginia basketball players Bryant Stith and John Crotty have been invited to participate in the USA National Basketball Team Trials scheduled for May 17-22 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

A total of 66 players have been invited to participate in the trials to determine the USA National Team which will play in the Goodwill Games (July 23-29) in Seattle, Wash., and the FIBA World Championships (Aug. 8-19) in Argentina.

Mike Krzyzewski of Duke University will be the head coach for both U.S. teams. Jim Boeheim (Syracuse), P.J. Carlesimo (Seton Hall) and Joe Harrington (Colorado) will be Krzyzewski's assistants.

Other players invited were Anderson Hunt, Greg Anthony, Stacey Augmon and Larry Johnson, starters on the national champion UNLV team. Duke's Bobby Hurley and Christian Laettner also were invited, as were Lee Mayberry and Todd Day of Arkansas and Kenny Anderson and Dennis Scott of Georgia Tech.

Danny Ferry, who played for Krzyzewski at Duke and was the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft last year before opting to play in Italy, also was invited. - Staff report
