WHITESNAKE: WHERE WAS THE REVIEW?

STAFF WRITER Tracy Wimmer's "Nasty Whitesnake talk ruins good show" was not a review. It was a sermon.

Did she mention how David Coverdale's voice was in top form? Did she mention the flawless Via-Vanderberg performance? Did she even mention the warm-up band Bad English?

Did she mention Niel Sohn's superb guitar playing? Did she mention B.E.'s relentless drummer? Did she mention that John Waite sang his heart out? Did she mention that the sound mix was clean and clear?

No. She devoted two-thirds of her review to the between-song banter, which amounted to about five minutes of a two-hour-plus show. The rest was devoted to the evils of cigarettes, spandex and "sexism." Where is the musical review? BURMAN C. SNIDER JR. ROANOKE
