The contract ratified, union members set about taking down the often-elaborate
picket shacks they'd erected outside Pittston facilities (both photos). But
because of delays in reopening some mines and the closing of others that had
been mined out during the strike, not all miners went back to work. By
mid-April, some 250 of Pittston's union miners still didn't have jobs. color.
