Architecture exhibit

"Architecture in Virginia: The Old Dominion" will be on exhibit today through May 14 at the William King Arts Center, Abingdon.

Among the private and public structures illustrated are Arlington's Custis-Lee Mansion, Norfolk's Customs House, Albemarle County's Monticello and Lexington's Virginia Military Institute.

On May 10, a program will be presented at 7 p.m. to complement the exhibition.

Mill Mountain fund-raiser

Tickets go on sale Tuesday for a fund-raiser Mill Mountain Theatre's Special Events Committee and Board of Directors will hold August 26.

First prize is a 1990 Pontiac Grand Am. Among the second place prizes are a color television, a diamond ring, various gift certificates and a weekend get-a-way.

Proceeds benefit Mill Mountain Theatre.

Tickets are $100 each and only 225 will be sold.

Crosby, Stills & Nash

Folk-rock trio Crosby, Stills & Nash, will perform at the Roanoke Civic Center coliseum June 11 at 8 p.m.

Reserved seating is $18.50, and tickets will go on sale Friday at Ticketron locations and at the civic center box office. Call 981-1201.

Orchid show

"Orchids in the Valley," an orchid show and sale, will be held Thursday-Sunday at Valley View Mall.

Amateur and professional growers will compete for awards and have their displays judged by accredited American Orchid Society judges.

An information booth will be provided to answer questions about care of the plant.

Show times are 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday; 1-5 p.m., Sunday.

The show is sponsored by the Blue Ridge Orchid Society.

Arts and crafts show

The Virginia Mountain Craft Guild's fifth annual Spring in the Valley Arts and Crafts Show will take place May 12 and 13 in the Salem Civic Center.

The juried show, sale and crafts demonstration will include work in stained glass, pottery, photography, musical instruments, fine art, wood and other media.

There will be an admission charge of $1, with proceeds going to the guild's scholarship fund. Parking is free.

Show hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 12 and noon to 6 p.m. on May 13.
