AND IF THINGS WEREN'T RIDICULOUS ENOUGH . . .

Greg Norman should have known Sunday would not be a good day after getting off to a rough start at the USF&G Classic.

He didn't have a parking pass, and a policeman guarding the gate at English Turn wouldn't let him through.

No problem identifying Norman, with his blond hair and Australian accent - just a matter of going by the book.

Norman argued for at least five minutes, but the officer was adamant: Nobody admitted without a pass.

A bus carrying fans from the public parking lot passed, with passengers leaning out of windows cheering Norman.

"I don't care," the officer said.

Finally, about an hour before his tee time, a member of the USF&G tournament committee came along and got Norman through. - Associated Press
