TAP benefit concert

A benefit concert will be held May 11 from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke with proceeds going to Total Action Against Poverty Inc. of the Roanoke Valley.

Admission is a $5 donation, and all proceeds will benefit TAP.

Old-time, bluegrass, jazz, blues and traditional music will be performed by Homebrew, Brad Jones, Tim Sauls, Curley Ennis & the Roadrangers, Radar Rose with Cactus Jane, Genie Krieger-Lindsey and Reflections.

Watercolor exhibit

Sixteen Southwest Virginia artists will be represented in the 11th annual Virginia Watercolor Society Jurored Exhibition, which is set for May 20-June 15 at the Virginia Beach Center for the Arts.

Their work will be among the 101 paintings selected by juror Charles Reid from among 729 slides submitted by 265 Virginia artists.

The Southwest Virginia exhibitors are Judy Bates and Russell D. Chu of Salem; Louis Barberis and Revelle Hamilton of Bedford; Nadine C. Allen of Blacksburg; John Will Creasy, Kemper Dobbins, Ernest Johnson and Carol Fox of Roanoke; Z.L. Feng and Mei Shu of Radford; Gertrude Lacy of Covington; D.R. Mullins of Abingdon; Jean R. Nelson of Christiansburg; Susan Thomas of Lexington; and Mary Tarr Whitehurst of Draper.
