WINDS, HAIL TAKE BRISTOL BY STORM

No one was injured when high winds, driving rain, hail and at least one funnel cloud swept through the Bristol area.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning just after 6 p.m. Monday and urged residents to move to interior rooms on the lowest levels of their homes until the storm passed.

A funnel cloud was spotted near the north part of the city about 6:25 p.m. following a cloudburst and reports of golfball-sized hail. Winds exceeding 55 mph also were reported, but only minor damage occurred.
