NEWCOMERS UNSEAT 2 ON RIDGEWAY COUNCIL

Pattie Walmsley lead the race Tuesday, winning one of six spots on the Ridgeway Town Council. Walmsley, who works as a teacher in Martinsville, received 91 votes.

Edward Page Sr., who ran unopposed, will be the new mayor, succeeding Dr. Robert Mason.

Of five candidates running for re-election to Town Council, three will keep their posts another term. C.W. "Ace" Adkins earned 75 votes; William Hairston tallied 84; and the third incumbent, Robert Martin Jr., 60.

James Michael Grogan, 86 votes, and Gary Johnson, 63 votes, were newly elected, unseating Douglas Souther, 43 votes, and Dennis Walker, who received 54 votes.

Also unsuccessful were Alan Kent Wagoner, 54 votes, and Valerie Metzger, 47 votes.
