\ HOLLAND, MICH. - H. Clay Gravely, III, age 44, a member of a Martinsville family of industrialists, died Wednesday in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born on June 30, 1945, in Ashland, Ken., a son of the late Harry C. Gravely, II, and Ethel (Tina) Jordan Gravely. Formerly of Martinsville, Gravely and his family had lived in Holland, Mich., for the past year where he was CEO of Heritage Heirlooms and Woodmark Industries. In 1986, Gravely started Virginia Clocks in Martinsville and continued with that company until 1988. Prior to forming his own company, Gravely was President and CEO of the family's Gravely Furniture Company, Inc., in Ridgeway. He was the third generation to serve as president of the company following his father and his grandfather, the late Richard Pleasants Gravely, Sr. Gravely graduated from Randolph Macon College where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army where he was a Pershing Missile Platoon Leader in West Germany and was and honor graduate of the Army Artillery Officers Candidate School. In addition to his mother of Martinsville, surviving are his wife, Crystal Coryell Gravely, formerly of Arlington, Va.; two sons, H. Clay Gravely, IV, and Glynn Coryell Gravely of the home in Holland, Mich.; two sisters, Sarah Gravely Tyler of Burke, Va.; and Jane Kelly Gravely of Richmond and Andorra; and one brother, William J. Gravely of Martinsville. The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville where he was a member. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at McKee Funeral Services from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and other times at the home of his mother on 1200 Sam Lions Trail. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Central Wesleyan Church in Holland, Mich.
