\ INDEPENDENCE - Mrs. Frances O. Wheatley, age 59, of Palm Bay, Fla., formerly of Independence, Va. and Elk Creek, Va., passed away Wednesday, May 2, 1990, at the Holmes Regional Hospital, Melbourne, Fla. She was born September 13, 1930, in Bland County, to Earl and Clyde Hamm Osborne. Surviving are her husband, Joe H. Wheatley of the home; one son, Joe Harold Wheatley, Hillsville, Va.; one daughter, Joyce Ann Whipple, Palm Bay, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Betty Stamper, Independence, Va.; three brothers, J. W. Taylor, Darlington, Md.; Joshua Osborne, Richmond, Va.; William Osborne, Greensboro, N. C.; two grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Wheatley and Christy Lynn Wheatley, both of Hillsville, Va. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Jennings officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence where the family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 to 9:00.
