Pam McCune, who had been deputy assistant county administrator, will be promoted to replace Gary Elander, the new town manager of Dublin.
Advertisements for the position had brought in 48 responses.
"I have full confidence in Pam's abilities and feel she is the best person for the job," County Administrator Betty Thomas said in a news release. "She is highly regarded by key staff members, constitutional officers and the many citizens she has worked with through various boards and commissions."
McCune, who earlier served as the county's human services director, is a Terre Haute, Ind., native and a graduate of Purdue University. She has worked for the county for more than seven years.
