NBC took the NBA from CBS in November with a four-year, $600 million deal that begins next season.
Costas and Albert will split play-by-play and host assignments during the regular season and playoffs. Albert will announce the All-Star Game and will be host of the NBA Finals next season. Costas will handle play-by-play at the NBA Finals and be the host for All-Star Game coverage.
They will alternate roles in subsequent years.
In other broadcasting news:
Turner Broadcasting Systems announced that Pat Haden will broadcast the first half of the 1990-91 NFL season on its network, then Haden will do the rest of the season for CBS Radio.
TNT will broadcast the first eight weeks of the NFL season, before Sunday night cable coverage shifts to ESPN. TNT also will televise three preseason games.
Haden will be paired with Skip Caray, the longtime Atlanta Braves and Hawks announcer.
