YOUTH FORUM IS POSTPONED

A youth forum on the importance of staying in school, originally scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed to June 9.

The event, which was postponed because of a scheduling conflict for some of the speakers, is part of the second annual Youth Weekend, sponsored by the Roanoke Youth Services Citizen Board, Office on Youth, Youth Advisory Committee and Parks and Recreation Department.

The forum will feature educators and other speakers, including the youths themselves, speaking on the theme "We [youth] are tomorrow's shining stars . . . Stay in school."

Other events that will be held as planned include a teen dance Saturdayat 8 p.m. at the National Guard Armory and Student Government Day Monday, in which students will have lunch with state and local officials and will attend the Roanoke City Council meeting.
