TOXIC SPILL BLAMED IN POTOMAC FISH KILL

Maryland and Virginia environmental officials are investigating the possibility that a toxic spill in the Potomac River killed thousands of catfish, shad, perch, carp and herring.

"It looks like there has been an extensive fish kill," Cynthia Sale, water resources manager for the Virginia Water Control Board's Alexandria office, said Thursday.
