BURLINGTON OPENS CLARKSVILLE PLANT

Burlington Industries Inc. has opened a $20 million weaving plant in Clarksville, the textile maker's first new plant since a 1987 buyout of the company.

The 90,000-square-foot plant employs 250 people, many of whom have worked at other Burlington operations. It makes wool and blended fabrics for the company's menswear division.

The Greensboro-based company designed the plant to produce relatively small batches of specially designed fabrics, according to a spokesman.
