MEOLA, DUNHAM GET UVA ATHLETIC AWARDS

Soccer standout Tony Meola and field hockey and women's lacrosse player Jill Dunham have been selected the University of Virginia's top male and female athletes for the 1989-90 academic year.

Meola led the Cavaliers to an overall record of 21-2-2 and the NCAA co-championship. He received the Hermann Trophy as the nation's outstanding soccer player.

Dunham lettered four times in field hockey and lacrosse. She was co-captain of the field hockey team, which was ranked 12th in the nation, and a tri-captain of the lacrosse squad, ranked third. - Staff report
