SALEM TROUT RODEO OPENS SATURDAY

The 39th annual run of the Ernest Pig Robertson Trout Fishing Rodeo at Salem's Lake Spring Park opens Saturday with fishing for children ages 3-8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Martha Robertson, the coordinator, said more trout than ever will be stocked, and if additional contributions come in this week, they will be spent of the stockings.

On May 14 from 10 a.m. to noon, fishing will be open to handicapped and autistic children. On May 17 from 10 a.m. to noon, patients at nursing homes in the valley will be welcomed to cast for trout.

On May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the rodeo will feature youngsters ages 9 through 12.

After the rodeo, only children ages 12 or under or handicapped adults with permits may fish in the park.
