CHRISTIANSBURG MAN, 18, CHARGED IN SERIES OF BREAK-INS

An 18-year-old man has been charged in a series of break-ins, police said Wednesday.

Lt. Doug Marrs said the break-ins occurred Tuesday and Wednesday at Dow's Car Cleaning, C&E Crafts and Kanode's Trading Place, all in the 300 block of North Franklin.

Police recovered items valued at more than $300, including pistols, watches, a knife display case and other items.

Christopher Michael Knight of 312 N. Franklin was charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny, Marrs said.

Knight also was charged with vandalism after a car window was shot out with an air rifle at Underwood Trailer Park.

He was released on a $5,000 bond.

His trial date is May 23.
