Helen Christine Settles (Memom) Sheffield, age 68, of 203 Forest Ridge Drive, Vinton, died Sunday in a local hospital after a long illness. Surviving are her husband, Colton Sheffield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evonne Begley and Jesse Alvarina, Baltimore, Md.; Joyce Begley and Daniel Foutz, Vinton; two sisters, Frances Riley, Roanoke; Grace Wilson, Copper Hill; four brothers, Noah Settles, Clifford Settles, both of Vinton; Johnny Settles, Calif.; and Bill Settles, Fla.; four grandchildren, Anita Alvarina Logue, Lisa Alvarina, Joe Alvarina, all of Baltimore, Md.; Melissa Foutz, Vinton; also one adopted daughter, Lotus Rooksberry, and two adopted grandsons, Shane Rooksberry, and Reid Johnson, both of Roanoke. Graveside services will be held 11:00 Wednesday, May 9, 1990 from the Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. Lon Hicks will officiate. Friends may call at Lotz Vinton Chapel.
