William Wilson Cofer, age 84, of Shawsville and a long time resident of 3412 Rosewood Ave. S.W. Roanoke, died Sunday. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and was a retired salesman at Nelson Hardware with 45 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Umbarger Cofer; one sister, Dorothy Staples, Silver Springs, Md.; two half sisters, Juanita Waller of Roanoke; Inez Burnette, Bedford; one niece, Doris Goodwin, Montvale; several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be a Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Benjamin F. Holstein will officiate. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Montvale, Va. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
