AAUW AWARDS RE-ENTRY GRANTS

Three New River Valley women who are continuing their interrupted educations have received scholarships from the American Association of University Women's Blacksburg branch.

Sheila Scott of Christiansburg was awarded the $1,000 Lucy lee Lancaster scholarship.

Scott, who reentered college after 23 years, will graduate from Radford University in December with an education and human services degree and plans to teach childhood and special education.

Darlene Cowan, presently enrolled at New River Community College, received the Polly Cobb $1,000 Re-Entry Scholarship.

She had been out of school for 12 years and will attend Radford in the fall to study science and social work.

Donna Smith, a second year student at New River, received a $500 re-entry grant.

She is studying family welfare and development and plans to pursue a bachelors degree at Radford.
