Bridges, 24, was arrested early Saturday for allegedly possessing cocaine for sale. Sgt. Joseph Brazas said 48 grams of cocaine were found in a car in which Bridges and another man were sitting outside a closed business in North Hollywood.
Bridges remained in custody Monday in lieu of $25,000 bail, said Officer Bill Frio.
Bridges' run-ins with the law have long overshadowed his acting fame.
He faces retrial July 30 on a charge stemming from the February 1989 shooting of Kenneth "Tex" Clay, who was hit eight times at a crack house.
Norman Vincent Peale wants to honor a few just-plain-folk who do good deeds with none of the glory.
The author-minister announced that a nationwide search is on for "unsung heroes" to be lauded with America's Awards and $1,000 each.
"We're looking for unsung heroes who personify American character and spirit, for `ordinary folks' who are extraordinary examples of such values as compassion, honesty, courage or even friendliness," he said.
The author of "The Power of Positive Thinking" is honorary chairman of a selection committee that includes U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley, D-N.J., Walter Cronkite, Barbara Mandrell and Disney chief Michael Eisner.
Barbara Bush kept the senior class of Kennebunk, Maine, High School waiting nearly a year before she accepted an invitation to deliver the commencement address in June.
Class officers at the school sent the invitation in August to the White House and to President Bush's summer home in neighboring Kennebunkport.
"They were told her calendar for spring would not be determined until January," Principal Williami Gentile said. "They're very fond of Mrs. Bush."
Confirmation came about five weeks ago, he said.
Kennebunk will graduate 147 seniors June 10.
