"We found some additional farm equipment we hadn't found the first time around," said Steve Smith, an Augusta County agricultural extension agent.
Smith said the new estimate also includes the cost to Virginia Power, the Virginia Department of Transportation and C&P Telephone Co. to remove debris. Saturday, officials estimated the damage at at least $325,000.
The 72-hour estimate listed damage to public property, including a former fire station building that was heavily damaged, at $330,900. Smith said damage to private property was $457,000.
"This is the final damage report," he said.
Twisters touched down in Augusta Springs and in Swoope several miles away between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The two people killed were in a mobile home in Swoope when the storm hit, said Sgt. Dwight Wood of the Augusta County Sheriff's Department. He identified the victims as Robert Louis Strickler, 27, of Swoope and Ronald Coleman Patterson, 38, of Staunton.
Ten people were injured but no one was hospitalized overnight.
