BROWN, PHYLLIS B.

Phyllis Bane Brown, 70, of 621 West College St., Narrows, died Tuesday, May 8, 1990, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, Va. She was a life long resident of Narrows, Va. She was born May 29, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Frank Allen and Nell Hanna Swope Bane. She was a retired accountant with the Hoechst-Celanese Fiber Company Plant at Narrows. She was a member of the Valley Presbyterian Church and attended Giles County Schools and graduated from Radford College which is now Radford University, Class of 1940. After graduation she taught in the Giles County School System for several years. She is survived by her husband, C. William Brown of Narrows; three sisters, Mabel Bane Thompson, Sacramento, Calif.; Warne Bane Corley of Glen Burnie, Md.; Sarah Bane Gholson, Fort Mill, S.C.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Narrows with the Rev. Steven Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The family suggests that contribution be made to the Valley Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, Narrows, Va. 24124.
