DOVEL, LELIA E.

Lelia E. Dovel, age 90, of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, May 9, 1990, at her home. Born February 16, 1900, in Earlysville, she was the daughter of the late Luther A. Dovel and Mary Elizabeth Bennett Dovel. Miss Dovel was a graduate of Lynchburg College, a member of the Business Professional Womens Club of Charlottesville and Roanoke, an executive officer with Firestone Rubber and Tire Company retiring after 40 years of service and a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1901 Thompson Rd. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. John D. Geiger, Charlottesville; Mrs. Elwood F. "Jack" Jones, Lovingston; Mrs. Charles L. "Sister" Wingfield, Charlottesville; one brother, Luther A. Dovel, Jr., Alexandria; six nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces; six great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1901 Thompson Road, Charlottesville, with the Rev. Douglas W. Kanney officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Those friends who wish may call on the family at 2310 Jefferson Park Ave., Charlottesville, at anytime. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1901 Thompson Road, or the American Cancer Society, 175 Pantops Dr., Charlottesville, Va. 22901. Hill & Wood Funeral Home, Charlottesville, is in charge of the arrangements.
