2 CHARGED WITH BREAK-IN

Two Roanoke men have been charged with breaking into an outfitter's store at Carvins Cove reservoir, stealing about $1,500 worth of merchandise and killing a goose.

Roanoke police, who assisted Botetourt County officials in the investigation, said a security office at the lake was broken into about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday by backing a pickup truck through a garage door.

Once inside, about $1,500 worth of fishing gear and cigarettes were taken from D&B Outfitters. When police later approached the suspects, they found in the bed of the pickup a goose that had been clubbed to death.

William Allen Taylor, 21, of the 1600 block of Gladstone Avenue Southeast and John Widender , 22, of Holly Road Northeast were charged with burglary, grand larceny and taking game out of season.
