MOORE'S BUILDING SUPPLIES gave out several awards at its recent management meeting.

The Salem store, managed by Mike Webster, was named the most improved retail store of the year.

George Foster, Jeff Lineberger, Pater Sarver, Terry Davidson and Don Kotchish were named buyers of the year.

\ THE ASSOCIATION FOR SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT has given awards from its Excellence in Systems Management Program to three Roanoke-area members.

Debra J. Holdren and Margaret C. Pearson received the Recognition Award, which honors members for their activities at the chapter level. Holdren is a banking systems analyst with Dominion Bankshares Corp. and Pearson is a controller at the Bank of Shawsville.

Thomas S. Calhoun received the Achievement Award, which notes the member's activities at the division or international level. Calhoun is a systems manager at Dominion Bankshares.

\ DAVID J. KLEMT has been appointed director of the architectural department at Sherertz Franklin Crawford Shaffner Inc. He joins the company with 23 years' experience as a practicing architect.

\ MARK S. WEBB has been promoted to assistant sales manager at Corrugated Container Corp. in Roanoke. He has been with the company for four years.

\ RICHARD N. LAHEY has been selected as farmer-demonstrator at the Booker T. Washington National Monument in Hardy. He is responsible for demonstrating and interpreting 19th-century farming practices at the living-history park.

He began his career as a farmer-demonstrator in 1985 at the George Washington Birthplace National Monument.

\ LORI EVANS has been named manager of The Closet, a junior and young-women's fashion store in Valley View Mall. Evans formerly worked at Patina.

\ DOMINION BANKSHARES CORP. has announced several promotions.

Steven G. Evans, Floyd A. Haxton and Patricia M. Himes have been elected computer operations and control officers. Evans and Haxton are shift managers in computer operations and control. Himes is responsible for the operations stability of the control center, testing, and the tape library.

Allen V. Wass has been elected a corporate services officer. He is responsible for developing customer/bank communication facilities and providing technical support to corporate services officers and customers.

Sandra J. Weaver has been elected a risk-management officer. She manages various aspects of Dominion's insurance needs.

\ CENTRAL FIDELITY BANK has promoted several employees to the rank of officer.

Lucy U. Barba, assistant manager of the Franklin Plaza office, joined the bank in 1973 as a loan administrator.

Janet B. Meadows joined Central Fidelity in 1977 as a teller. She currently is the manager of the Blue Ridge office.

Mary D. Tabor, who joined the bank in 1988, is a commercial lender.

Sandy Wimmer, a loan support supervisor, has been with the bank since 1987.

\ JUDY W. ATKINS and CATHY M. OVERSTREET have completed the Commercial Lines School at the Baltimore headquarters of the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Co. The two-week course is a comprehensive review of the major classes of commercial insurance.

\ TIMOTHY W. GUBALA, director of economic development for Roanoke County, has passed the American Economic Development Council's certification examination to become a certified industrial/economic developer. Gubala has been assistant county administrator, superintendent of development and county planner.

\ BRIAN T. DUNCAN has been appointed assistant director of the Roanoke County Department of Economic Development. He previously was economic development specialist.

\ A. DEAN WILSON, marketing manager for Equitable Life of Iowa, recently attended the president's cabinet conference in Madrid, Spain. He received the company's Tri-Star, Century Club, and Multi-Millionaire awards. He also qualified for the 1990 Million Dollar Round Table, National Sales Achievement and National Quality awards.

\ DOMINION BANK has elected several new branch officers. They are: Michael Claytor, a customer service manager at the Hershberger Road office; and Mark Grogan, Eric Housman, Mary Ann Jaeger, Jill Lingle and Teresa Sizemore, all managers of Money Market branches at Kroger stores.

\ MARTHA MACKEY, executive director of the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau, has been approved for membership in the International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus. The association has 367 member bureaus in 25 countries.

\ DAVID YOUNGBLOOD, photographer, has moved his photography studio to 905 Winona Ave. S.W. Office hours are by appointment from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
