3-DAY SENIOR-CITIZENS' SEMINAR SET AT VHCC

A three-day seminar on older people will get underway Wednesday at Virginia Highlands Community College, with a variety of speakers and workshops.

Workshops run from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. each day. Those on the first day are designed for people 60 and older. Those on Thursday and Friday are targeted toward professionals, volunteers and other interested people.

Speakers include mental-health consultant and psychotherapist Kathleen Keating-Schloessinger, author of "The Hug Therapy Book," on the power of touch Thursday at 9:30 a.m.; Marlene B. Brown, adjunct professor at Utica College on making later years the best, Friday at 9:15 a.m.; and Sandy Queen, founder and director of a Maryland training and consulting firm, on "30 Dirty Lies about Being Old," Friday at 1 p.m.

Also on the program is folk singer Betty Smith at the 3:30 p.m. closing session Friday.
