FORMER SCHOOL OFFICIAL ON COLLEGE FOUNDATION

A former Carroll County school superintendent has been named as the county's representative to the Wytheville Community College Educational Foundation board of directors for a three-year term.

R. Ted Phillips, now personnel director for Consolidated Glass of Galax, succeeds Glenn O. Simmons, who has completed his three-year term. Phillips was the county's school superintendent from 1976 until last year.

The foundation is a non-profit charitable corporation established in 1981 to provide a means for tax-deductible gifts toward scholarships and enhancing the college's educational program.
