ROANOKE NOT IN THE PICTURE FOR CHALLENGE

Mark Collins, assistant manager of the Roanoke Civic Center, spoke Thursday with ACC assistant commissioner Jon LeCrone and learned there is little chance Roanoke will be considered as a site for the ACC-Big East Challenge this year.

Collins said civic center officials will send a letter to the ACC office and ask to be considered for a doubleheader in future years.

"We were told that they would not consider buildings with a capacity of less than 13,000 for the second year," Collins said. "They will re-evaluate that decision each year and there is a possibility we might be considered for years three and four.

"We were encouraged to send a letter that would be kept on file. The letter will go out in the morning."
