FRIES MAN HELD IN THEFT OF COPPER

A 25-year-old Fries man has been charged with stealing about $21,000 worth of copper wire from the Appalachian Power Co.

Darrell Lynn Page of Route 2 faces a grand larceny charge in connection with a theft from Bilsby Dam in the Fries section of Carroll County, a sheriff's department spokesman said.

Page is accused of stealing about 1,800 pounds of wire. The spokesman could not provide a date when the thefts occured.

Page is scheduled to appear this morning in Carroll County General District Court. He was being held Thursday night in Carroll County Jail in lieu of a $27,500 bond.

He was arrested following an investigation by deputies J.B. Gardner and W.F. Bobbitt.
