3 KILLED IN SEPARATE WEEKEND ACCIDENTS

Three people died in two separate vehicle crashes on Saturday.

Edna Mae Cable, 23, of Salem and Marshall Darren Lindsey, 30, of 1606 Wise Ave. S.E., Roanoke, died after a motorcycle on which they were riding collided with a car on Roanoke Boulevard about 1:15 a.m.

The motorcycle was traveling west in the eastbound lane prior to the accident, which occured just west of Arnold R. Burton Technology Center at Easton Road.

Salem Police Lt. F.L. Pendleton said both Cable and Lindsey were thrown more than 90 feet from the motorcycle.

Cable died at the scene. Lindsey died later at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Pendleton was unsure whether they were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

No one in the car, driven by Christopher Gaven Conner of 426 N. Market St., Salem, was injured.

At about the same time in Henry County, Todd Burton Creasy, 23, was killed after the car in which he was riding slid off the shoulder of Virginia 672 and struck a tree.

In a written summary given to dispatchers, Trooper H.C. Guilliams said Creasy was a passenger in a car driven by David Christopher Roach.

Guilliams said neither Creasy or Roach was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was a factor in the accident.

A state police dispatcher said the summary did not indicate whether charges had been filed.
