ROANOKE GOLFER WINS VSGA SENIOR EVENT

Arman Fletcher of Roanoke birdied the second playoff hole to win the Virginia State Golf Association senior stroke-play championship Thursday at Shenandoah Valley Country Club.

Fletcher, Jim Kite and Moss Beecroft overcame rain and wind to finish 36 holes of regulation play at 6-over-par 148. Fletcher, the 1989 runner-up, dropped an 8-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole to win the event.
