GRAYSON COUNTY WINS 2ND MED TITLE IN ROW

Grayson County won its second consecutive Mountain Empire District regular season baseball championship Saturday with a 7-4 playoff victory over Narrows. The Blue Devils now receive an automatic bid to the Region C Tournament.

Grayson County players stole eight bases on the afternoon, helping the team rally from a 4-0 deficit after three innings. The Blue Devils scored three runs in the top of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie.

Grayson pitcher Devin Floyd relieved starter Danny Pollard with two out in the bottom of the second with the Green Wave up 3-0, and did not allow a Narrows hit the remainder of the game.

The Blue Devils will play host to fourth-seeded Shawsville on Monday, and the third-seeded Fort Chiswell will travel to Narrows on Tuesday in the first round of the MED tournament.

Grayson County has won the district championship in each of its two years since the school's formation.
