TWO BUSINESSES DESTROYED BY FIRE

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed two longstanding Big Stone Gap businesses early Saturday.

A fire discovered about 4:30 a.m. destroyed Bowers Hardware and Lumber Co. and Helbert's Market, a local distributor of plants and produce.

About 25 firefighters responded to the blaze and contained it to the two major buildings.
