\ PEMBROKE - Robert Edward Robertson, Sr., age 79, died Saturday evening en route to a Pearisburg hospital. A native of Giles County, he was the son of the late Joseph William and Minnie Kirk Robertson. He was a retired plant foreman for W. W. Boxley Quarries and a veteran of the United States Navy, World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Lafon Robertson and one grandson, Joshua Robertson. Surviving are two sons, Robert E. Robertson, Jr. of Roanoke; and James W. Robertson of Rustburg; two daughters, Mae R. Wilson of Pembroke; and Barbara R. Phelps of Concord; four sisters, Minnie Beckner, Pearisburg; Ethel Sarver, Newport; Mary Harrison, Richmond; Nannie Traylor, Richmond; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Williams-Jamison-Kendall Funeral Home, Pembroke, with the Rev. Barry Franklin and the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 9:00.
