ANTI-TURKISH ARTICLES OFFENSIVE

I WAS OUTRAGED by the Associated Press article published April 25 that talked about the "Armenian genocide." Since I am an American with Turkish roots, I am appalled by such anti-Turkish articles.

Turkey is a free, democratic country that does not oppress any minority group. One of these groups is the Armenians who, unlike the Armenians outside of the country, do not hold bitterness toward Turkey.

The article made the Ottoman Empire seem like Nazi Germany. It also did not mention the Turkish diplomats who were assassinated by Armenian terrorists in Europe, Canada and the United States during the '70s and early '80s for "revenge."

Fortunately, such terrorism has ceased. However, these misunderstandings have not been resolved. One hopes the decision by Congress not to recognize the "genocide" will help put an end to this matter, now nearly a century old.
