TRUCK DRIVER KILLED IN WRECK NEAR MARION

A truck driver died early Sunday in Smyth County when he lost control of his tractor-trailer and the vehicle went down a 150-foot embankment and overturned.

Larry James Thomas, 41, of Wilson, Ark., died at the scene.

Thomas was northbound on Virginia 16 south of Marion when the crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. After rounding a sharp curve, the truck crossed into the opposite lane and ran off the road, police said.
