Harry W. Vinicombe, Jr., age 68, of 702 Cedar Key Lane, Huddleston, died Sunday, May 13, 1990 in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on November 2, 1921, a son of the late Dr. Harry Wynn Vinicombe, Sr. and Grace Marie Leary Vinicombe. He was a graduate of Fordham University in New York and was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam, and retired from the U.S. Navy in 1967 as a Master Chief Aerographer's Mate. In 1983 he retired from Headquarters of the U.S. Postal Service as a personnel executive. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, A.A.R.P., Naval Weather Service Association, National Association of Secondary School Principals and was active as a Shock/Trauma Technician in the Huddleston Rescue Squad. He was a Communicant of Resurrection Catholic Church at Moneta. He is survived by six sisters, Jane Bailey, Carlsbad, Calif.; Mildred White, Marion Vinicombe, both of Los Angeles; Kathryn Frenze, Johnson, R.I.; Grace Spooner, Holmdel, N.J.; Emily Raia, Franklin Lakes, N.J.; a brother, Robert J. Vinicombe, Middletown, N.J.; also 22 nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church Friday, 7:00 p.m. with Father James J. Begley officiating. An Irish wake will follow in the church fellowship hall. Graveside services will be held in the church cemetery Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Memorial donations in Mr. Vinicombe's name may be made to either the Huddleston Rescue Squad or Resurrection Catholic Church, Moneta. Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
