SEX-CALL INVESTIGATION UPSETS FAIRFAX WOMAN

A Fairfax woman who claimed she received obscene telephone calls from former American University president Richard Berendzen says she is upset with the way authorities handled the situation.

Susan Allen told WRC-TV in Washington on Monday that county police and prosecutors had given Berendzen "special treatment."

She said she realized that Berendzen probably will not serve any jail time because the charges are misdemeanors.

"I think it should be a felony. . . . I think it should be as stiff a punishment as drunk driving," Allen said.
