BORG BEATS `Z' IN COURT

A Swedish news magazine was ordered to pay $12,500 to retired tennis star Bjorn Borg for defaming him by reporting allegations that he used cocaine.

The verdict and sentence followed the non-binding recommendation last week of a jury to convict the magazine "Z" for printing the allegations.

The allegations were from Borg's former girlfriend, Jannicke Bjorling, who is involved in a custody dispute with him over the couple's son, Robin.

The magazine said it had several other sources to confirm that Borg used drugs, but their identities were never disclosed.
