Thomas Burton Bowman, age 95, passed away Monday, May 19, 1990 at the Blue Ridge Highlands Nursing Home, Galax. He was born in Carroll County July 28, 1894, a son of James Samuel Madison Bowman and Lula Williams Bowman. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan Victoria Bowman. He is survived by two sons, Guy Bowman and Verlin Bowman, both of Woodlawn; one brother, Ray Bowman of Mt. Airy, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Loraine McGrady of Fancy Gap; Mrs. Nina Hill, Hillsville; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 17, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. at the Skyview Missionary Baptist Church at Fancy Gap with the Rev. Elmon Thompson and Rev. Earl Webb, officiating with interment in the Web and Skyview Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the Web and Skyview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at Hillsville.
