ALDRICH, JANE E.

Mrs. Jane Elizabeth Wilson Aldrich, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, May 15, 1990 at a local hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of John Malcolm Aldrich, Sr. and a charter member of the Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church. She was an accomplished poet and had won several national awards for her poetry and several of her poems had been published in book form. Mrs. Aldrich had been a tireless church worker and conducted a spiritual ministry which has benefited many people. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, John M., Jr. and Carolee Aldrich, William F. and Shirley Aldrich, Richard K. and Betty Jo Aldrich, all of Roanoke; one brother, Frederick J. Wilson, Richmond; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn A. Kendrick, Rocky Mount; Shirley H. Wilson, Richmond. Funeral services will be at the Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church 11:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dr. James A. Allison, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
