INSURANCE AGENT'S LICENSE REVOKED

The Virginia Bureau of Insurance has revoked the license of Roanoke agent Scott Schmidt, said Lisa O'Shea, a bureau spokesman.

Schmidt, of Valley Insurance Agency Inc. at Lamplighter Mall, came under investigation after customers filed complaints saying they had paid premiums but never received their policies, O'Shea said.

Schmidt surrendered his license May 3, but the agency license was not revoked, O'Shea said.

Consumers who have done business with Schmidt or Valley Insurance Agency should first contact the company, O'Shea said. If problems develop, consumers should then call the Bureau of Insurance toll-free at 1-800-552-7945.
